What website analytics collect

Along the Way Care records a limited set of pseudonymous events (linked to a browser token, not a member profile) so the owner can understand whether the website is useful. This includes visits, page views, engagement time, general referral channel, campaign labels, device and screen-size category, browser and operating-system family, general network location when the hosting provider makes it available, Start Here pathway totals, resource views, printable actions, completed registrations and sign-ins, and anonymous technical signals such as a missing image or page overflow.

Resource search reporting uses a small set of broad categories such as “wandering and home safety” or “caregiver stress and burnout,” plus combined counts for filters, no-result categories, result clicks, and saves. The words a visitor types are processed in the browser to find matching resources and are not sent to the owner dashboard or stored as raw search history.

Country, state or province, major city, and metropolitan information is approximate. Locations with very small counts are grouped as “Other / not enough data.” Exact addresses, GPS information, postal codes, and full IP addresses are not stored. Pathway choices are counted only in aggregate and are not connected to names, emails, membership profiles, or private caregiver notes.

What we do not collect in analytics

• Full IP addresses or precise location
• Passwords, payment information, or private account details
• Medical conditions, diagnoses, disease stages, or treatment information
• Caregiver form responses, private messages, personal care notes, or health-related search words
• Identifiable member activity or cross-site advertising profiles

Why analytics are used

Anonymous totals help improve navigation, prioritize useful guides and printables, identify broken or overlooked pages, and understand which device sizes need the most attention. Detailed analytics are available only to the protected owner account. Only the total website-visit count is displayed publicly.

Cookies and session counting

The website uses two first-party, HttpOnly cookies only for privacy-preserving visit counting: one recognizes an anonymous browser and one keeps a session active for approximately 30 minutes. They are not advertising cookies, are not available to third-party scripts, and are not used to follow you across other websites. The browser-recognition cookie lasts up to 180 days. The site does not use advertising trackers.

Retention

Analytics storage is configured to remove session and event records older than 730 days when a new analytics event is processed. Member records remain until the membership is deleted or must be kept briefly for security or legal reasons. Community submissions may remain after account deletion if they were intentionally submitted for publication, but identifying details can be removed on request.

Membership and private information

Your saved resources, download history, recently viewed resources, and optional checklist are private to your member account. They are not shown publicly and are not included with identifying information in owner analytics. The owner may see the name, email address, membership status, date joined, and last sign-in needed to administer membership, but not private checklist items or personal notes.

Resource feedback

Resource pages may ask whether the information was helpful and offer an optional short comment. Feedback is not posted publicly. Ratings are shown to the owner as combined totals. Optional comments are used only to improve the resource and should not include names, diagnoses, or private medical information.

Account deletion

Members may request deletion from the account settings on the member dashboard. You may also email AlongTheWayCaregiving@gmail.com. A request from account settings marks membership as awaiting deletion and stops member access. The owner must review and complete removal; deletion is not immediate. Signing in again does not cancel the request.

Community and contact submissions

Do not submit full names, addresses, passwords, financial information, or unnecessary medical details. Caregiver experiences and community questions are reviewed before publication. Public stories are labeled as personal experience and may be edited to remove identifying details.
